Something Beautiful + College life

My aunt just came back from Singapore and guess what she got me!!

Zhang Jingna's photobook.

Something Beautiful.

I didn't really expect her to be able to find it for me so I tried not to get my hopes up when she arrived home. But the moment she mentioned to me that she was able to get it, my heart literally skipped a beat!! I've been waiting to get one for ages and now it's finally within my reach.

Oh, how beautiful life is when something you've waited so patiently for comes unexpectedly~

And yes, those are my real glasses. My astigmatism is getting better but I'm starting to get a higher grade on both my eyes.

I envy my cousin for getting the Lasik treatment just last month. Her eyes will be perfect forevah no matter how much she's gonna abuse them. Not saying I abuse mine though. But it'd be great to be able to read for hours on end without getting that burning sensation in my eyes.

Anyway, enough about eyes! I'm piling up so much work lately. I know I should seriously start getting the drive to work on them asap but I can't help it if I want to prioritize my college degree first eventhough I find myself lost in 0s and 1s, circuit combination, de Morgan's law, ANSI C & Java... Lately I've been dreaming about being in a world immersed in colors, John William Waterhouse, the Pre-Raphaelites and the Golden ratio.

But I'll be patient, being an Information Technology student is kinda cool in essence. I know. I'm probably just a geek at heart / artist craving for self-expression... There are too many things I want to be! Or rather too many things I can do, I think.

Trivia: I love eating green apples every chance I get.

P.S. I'm still keen on getting the hardcover / limited edition of Something Beautiful. Heee.

PLEASE do NOT steal my PICTURES :(

My friend sent me a text message one night telling me that he saw me on a school magazine. I was completely puzzled because I had no remembrance of anything to have done to have resulted in said publication. Furthermore, I had no relation whatsoever to the school!

I pondered upon it and resolutely never believed him at all... until he scanned the article for me.

A group photo I took 2 years back with a tripod + timer.

I was so disappointed when I saw this. I mean, how can someone just casually take someone else's photo and place it in their article? How would you like it if I got your facebook picture and published it in the newspaper with not so much as a permission from you? Wouldn't you feel really weird? Some of you will probably say, "I'd be flattered." But is it still the right way to do these things?

:(

Anyway... I've decided. I don't want to stir anything up/pick a fight/cause necessary ruckus.

But if you, the person reading this entry right now, know the author or the person responsible for this article, please tell him/her to email me at annelorraineuy@gmail.com. I'd like to exchange a few words with said person. I assure you I'm not mad or anything of the sort. I just want to talk to the person responsible for publishing my photo if it's okay. XD

Please and thank you. =D

Bangkok 2009: Shopping Overdose.

One fine day my aunt suggested we take the promo fare to Bangkok just to shop. It's funny coz I never really thought she was serious about JUST shopping. My gosh it was all we did aside from sleeping and eating! We usually didn't eat at the proper times thus starving ourselves silly. I don't think I can ever look at shopping the same way again.

What. A. Vacation.

Aside from fatigue and all bad things related, I enjoyed being with my older sister and my two aunts. They're really sweet and fun people to be with. We didn't go to any tourist sites at all so I'll just mention some of the highlights from my BKK trip.

1.) The BKK airport was really cool. The people remind me of the Philippines but the place is wholly different. It's like a more modern Philippines if you ask me.
(With the addition of a lot more shopping malls and markets everywhere you go).

2.) I love the cute shaped eggs the buffet (Four Seasons International House) offered every morning.
3.) Neon colored taxis roam the streets of the buzzling shopping capital.

4.) We lugged around trolleys while shopping everywhere!
(Well, almost. Except Siam Paragon)
It seemed ridiculous to me at first, but then eh.. You get used to it.
Better than carrying tons of plastic bags yourself.

5.) Their snacks are strange. My aunt bought some green mango slices with CHILI all over!
In bisaya, people would have said "Maka almuranas sad ni uie".
We tried a bit.... But seriously, nobody could honestly finish all those without any health consequences whatsoever.

So green mango + chili overload = PHAIL

Next we tried the guava slices with some peach-colored sugar...
YUUMMM! We finished it in a blink of an eye.
This is something we should bring over to our country.
I wonder what that odd-colored sugar exactly is though.

6.) Since a lot of people go to Bangkok to shop, you'd expect to see almost any type of person known in the whole world. Here's one with rainbow dreadlocks.
What are the chances that you'd see something like that in your entire life??
Amazing.

7.) What is a Bangkok trip without a Tuk Tuk ride? Enough said.

8.) After 4:30PM the streets get soooo traffic it's not funny.
Kinda reminds you of Manila hmm.

They have wide wide roads, sky walks and great public transportation but still!

9.) At the Big C mall, we ate at a shabu-shabu restaurant where...

The employees gave a dancing number when the clock hit 9PM.
Can you spot the sad performer? XD

10.) And last but not least, they have that touch-sensitive projector thingy!
The kids love love it. They stomp around and play around it, just like this happy baby.

Overall, it was a cool experience. I never thought it was possible to get sick of shopping but I really did. Though I'm pretty sure I'll recover real fast. (Lol. Of course, I'm a girl y'know.)

For no reason at all I share to you this last picture of the huge airport parking lot!

Kind of reminded me of those action movies where the protagonist gets chased to no end and ends up in something like... an airport parking lot.

As the antagonist holds his trusty gun, he fires endless amounts of bullets against our hero. With that, damaging all the shiny pretty cars of innocent unsuspecting people. Then... *fastforward*.. BOOM! A burst of flames and the structure tumbles to the ground.

Ultimately, the protagonist is able to escape with numerous scratches all over his body and yes, he walks away without looking at the explosion like the cool hero he is.

Yo, Canonian.

SunStar Cebu feature + Satin Eclipse CDP Exhibit

Lost in Alice II.

The Dark II & Legend of Chun Li II.

Those two pages appeared on last Friday's (October 30, 2009) SunStar Cebu newspaper.

I was really surprised when I heard about it since I had no idea about my pictures being used or anything. Thank you to Jeremy Hong for telling me about it first-hand and to Kara Mae Noveda for choosing my pictures! =D

Honestly, I never really would have imagined anything like this to happen to me in my entire life. Hence, it's so aewsomeee!! Thank you LORD. *.*

My exhibit photo work and I.
Model is Cheska Cagulada; this picture by Nayki Cagulada.

And I'm wearing the Cebu Digital Photographer's shirt with a cowboy hat, sporting fringed boots there. GO CDP! The exhibit was a great success. I heard the news about the pictures going on exhibit in New York too but I don't really know the exact details.

On the other hand, I have to congratulate the organizers of Satin Eclipse. There were sooo many people at Parkmall who came to see the event! The cosplayers were totally good and the fashion show was way awesome. Kudos to Nayki Cagulada, Greg Limpin IV, Chai Rico, Edwin Buenaviaje and Doyzkie Buenaviaje of CaneEvents for the great job! Please support future events from them. They're still so young but super talented and dedicated people.

I might cover the event later on, still haven't sorted out the pictures yet. Will blog about my Bangkok and Bantayan trip next. Whew, what a sembreak. I really lived it up to the fullest!
